Choral Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - SKU: A0.739502 Composed by David Catherwood. Broadway,Children,Musical/Show. Score. 60 pages. Opus 3 Music #6052583. Published by Opus 3 Music (A0.739502). 'Jack's Journey'(A new Musical by Adeline Dinsmore and David Catherwood)Piano and vocal score (contains 7 songs plus overture and incidental music) plus Script - $9.50Duration c.40 minutesIdeal for schools, youth groups or adult dramatic/musical companies.Requirements - Narrator, Chorus, (unison/2part) Soloists, Actors, Piano accompanimentOptional - Dancers, orchestral parts for Flute, Clarinet. Trumpet, Horn, Strings, Percussion and Bass/guitar About the Musical A great story about one of the 20th century’s greatest storytellers. Carefully researched, yet full of fun, this entertaining musical tells the story of the early part of CS Lewis' life from the time of his mother's death in 1908 until his arrival as a student at Oxford in 1916. (Throughout his life CS Lewis was always known as Jack) This new work was premiered at the end of 2019 at the annual CS Lewis Festival held in Ireland. (CS Lewis’ birthplace) It proved to be a great success and was very enthusiastically received. Synopsis Jack’s Journey is a whimsical re-imagining of the childhood journeys of CS Lewis - each of the seven songs representing a stop along the way to his eventual career as the writer of the Narnia Chronicles. The story is told through music relating his memories and significant episodes from his schooldays up to his entry into Oxford. Living almost entirely in his imagination as a small boy, the seeds of the world of Narnia are already beginning to grow in his writing and drawings. Little Lea, his childhood home, provides the setting for the early scenes. Following the death of his mother the young Jack has his first experience of school and England. He endures with fortitude the harsh regime of boarding school and begins to recognise the value of friendship, mutual support and the courage that children can show in adversity. He returns to Ireland and to Campbell College – a much more positive experience. Illness brings his attendance at Campbell to an end. Returning to Little Lea, Jack imagines the world of fairies and dwarves, a world beyond our own. He returns to school in England and comes under the influence of a variety of teachers. Expelled from Malvern, Jack next falls under the influence of his great mentor, Professor Kirkpatrick – the model for the Professor of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Jack’s Journey concludes with the anticipated arrival of a great hero, the hero of the first of the Narnian Chronicles, Aslan, the lion. ‘Jack’s Journey’ gives opportunity for young actors, (supported if desired by adults, taking the parts of the grown-ups.) There are short dramatic scenes, plenty of chorus work, opportunity for choreography and many solo spots for vocalists in the songs which are milestones in the story. List of Songs (the sample pages and mp3 file gives a chance to see and hear the first page of most of the songs) 1 Soft through the window 2 Kingdom of Mourne 3 Little Lea 4 Campbell Days - Boy to the left, Boy to the right 5 The Dandy's song 6 The Scholar's song 7 Strength and honour As will be evident from the above, there is plenty of flexibility regarding the scale of the performance. ‘Jack’s Journey’ may be staged using relatively modest outlay – for example, the premiere did not have a set because the venue for the performance was an actual railway station! The piece certainly allows for imaginative approaches to design and staging. In terms of the additional challenges presented by 2020 the length of the musical at 40 minutes helps in delivering a shorter theatrical experience. Also, the fully digital download of all performing materials allows for distribution via email Indeed the whole show could be effectively recorded and presented online as well as in person.

Of Wind and Wings portrays the beauty of what it must be like to soar across the skies and feel the wind beneath your wings.Within the Flame is a soulful representation of the fire element. After an opening chorale depicting a look into a small, calm flame, the movement takes off with the flames reaching ever higher and higher. The movement ends as it began, with a calm, soulful chorale. In the Waters Shimmering looks directly into the shimmering reflection of the sunlight in water. A beautiful lyrical theme is passed around the quartet surrounded by various chorales and duets. One last lovely chorale moment brings the movement to its conclusion. To the Land Beyond, a depiction of the earth element, is full of sparking flourishes and rhythmic interest. This movement is a joyous celebration of nature, life, and all its beauty.Originally written as four individual pieces, but always intended to be a set, The Elements can be performed as individual movements or can be performed as a full four movement presentation.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - SKU: A0.774724 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Sandra Milliken. Folk,World. Octavo. 14 pages. Sandra Milliken #3873279. Published by Sandra Milliken (A0.774724). The Old Palmer Song is a favourite Australian folk song that is meant to be sung in a rollicking style that reflects the excitement and anticipation of hardy Australian colonials setting out in search of gold. Following hard on the heels of the great California gold rushes (1848 – 1855) came the discovery of payable quantities of gold in Australia. The first gold rush in Australia began in New South Wales in May 1851 after prospector Edward Hargraves discovered gold near Orange, at a site he called Ophir. Other discoveries quickly followed, including those at Ballarat and Bendigo in the colony of Victoria. Then came Rosewood and Gympie (1867) in Queensland; the Gawler region in South Australia in 1868; and Halls Creek (1885), Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie (1893) in Western Australia. One of Australia’s richest alluvial goldfields was that of the Palmer River in far north Queensland. The rush to the Palmer began in 1873 and lasted for about three years. The goldfields were nearly 100 miles inland from the small coastal settlement of Cooktown and the early prospectors had a hard time of it just getting to the field. Leaving Cooktown they crossed the coastal mangroves, then on through dense tropical rainforest, into the more open eucalypt forest beyond and then across the dry, inhospitable and rugged country of the hinterland dissected by wide and deep rivers. And always there was the risk of meeting with fierce resistance from the Aborigines whose tribal land they were travelling through. At the height of the rush there were around 35,000 prospectors on the Palmer (including a great many Chinese). By the time the rush was over, the Palmer had yielded over 100 tons of gold! The Old Palmer Song is set to the tune of Ten Thousand Miles Away, a shore ballad/sea shanty that probably originated in Ireland in the early 19th Century.

Guitar,Piano,Vocal,Voice - SKU: A0.935515 Composed by Shaun Parry. Sacred. Score. 1 pages. MusicforMillions #5754989. Published by MusicforMillions (A0.935515). THIS IS AN ORIGINAL (simple) SONG I WROTE FOR MY MOM AND SISTER To be clear, it is a prayer written in musical form. I guess that makes it a psalm. A few nights ago I was feeling the pain of so many people around the globe who are suffering due to the pandemic. I was inspired to sit down and write an simple song of comfort for them-for us. The very same evening I started writing the song, unbeknownst to me, my sister was being taken to the hospital where she collapsed of heart failure and was life-flighted to the nearest cardiovascular facility. They put her on life support (ECMO and ventilator) to let her heart and lungs rest. Two days later, due to complications with circulation in her leg she had to be rushed into emergency surgery to pull the catheter from the artery leading to her heart. This required taking her off of life support four days earlier than they had planned. We were informed she may not make it. Thanks to thousands of people praying for her, and her own indomitable spirit, she pulled through-but not without more complications.A fever kicked in and lack of circulation in her other leg caused even more concern. Her heart and body were suffering greatly. As we prayed (and thousands of you from around the world prayed with us) I kept massaging and nuancing the exact melody line I wanted, at the same time interweaving various lyrics to intuit what felt right. I wanted this to be a song anyone could sing for their beloved family member or friend who was struggling. Every note, every syllable had to land just right-as if it was meant to be.Through all this my mother was going through her own bit of personal anguish. We were basically waiting for my sister to die. Due to COVID regulations nobody, not even family, could visit her in ICU. My mother bought a plane ticket... just in case. We hoped beyond hope that, If she died, she would not die alone. I wanted to finish this song by Mother's Day to share with my mother and my dear struggling sister who is also a mother of 5. I finished it and sang it through tears on Mother's Day. I have many friends show speak Spanish who are going through very difficult times due to COVID-19 and the subsequent quarantine. The second time through is a carefully crafted Spanish translation. I hope to hear people singing this far and wide with, to and for each other.

Handbell - Level 1 - SKU: A0.1308213 Composed by American folk melody from Southern Harmony 1835. Arranged by Cheryl (Sutton) Baker - Bronze:FX. 19th Century,Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious. Score. 4 pages. Bronze:FX #897453. Published by Bronze:FX (A0.1308213). The arrangement is for 5, 6, 7, or 8 ringers using two octaves of handbells or handchimes. Assignments are included according to the quantity of ringers, and the piece is Level 2 when played with seven or eight ringers. This piece may also be performed by four- or six- in-hand ensembles without tables.Combining flowing lines with block chords, this arrangement of the familiar hymn tune is reminiscent of a music box. The melody is played both in the bass and the treble lines, and the easy rhythms never advance beyond the eighth note value. Every ringer is kept busy with lots of ringing, LV, some shakes, and minimal accidentals. There are a two gathering points where the ringers regain those who are lost or no longer together with the group's rhythm. On Jordan's stormy banks I stand, and cast a wishful eyeTo Canaan's fair and happy land, where my possession lie.I am bound for the promised land. I am bound for the promised land.Oh, who will come and go with me? I am bound for the promised land.– lyrics by Samuel Stennet, 1787The piece has a lovely reoccurring pattern that bridges the verses. There are two verses in all, and each one has a fermata (hold) on the question Oh, who will come and go with me?Performance time:• 2 minutes, 30 seconds.

Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 4 - SKU: A0.893703 Composed by Lyrics by K.J. Murdock, music arranged from African American Spiritual. Arranged by K.J. Murdock. A Cappella,Blues,Christian,Easter,Gospel,Spiritual. Octavo. 7 pages. Kristopher James Murdock #3052979. Published by Kristopher James Murdock (A0.893703). Teachers and singers, do you need a fresh new song, with a new feel, based on a timeless classic?Church music leaders, are you looking for a unique way to share the faith, a change in style to draw attention to the Gospel in song? The new a capella Gospel song Jesus Fought the Battle at Calvary, to the tune of the familiar American Spiritual Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho, solves both problems. The tune, with its lively blues chorus and solemn verses, is arranged from a Spiritual that emphasized the hope of an oppressed people to emerge triumphant one day, from slavery into a Promised Land of freedom, just like Moses and his successor Joshua in the days of old. These lyrics remind Christians of the belief that, by the Blood of Calvary, God's people of all races are spiritually triumphant over the ultimate foe, satan. Taking these contexts together, Jesus Fought the Battle at Calvary reminds us of a people who learned to look to God for victory and freedom, in both the spiritual and the natural realm. Jesus Fought the Battle at Calvary will be an inspiring addition to your repertoire, whether at Easter season or at any other time of year.Duration: approximately 1:53Uses: Church, school, etc.Rights: Feel free to sing this choral piece live without any additional charge beyond the price of sheet music, as long as no admission is charged in any non-academic setting other than a church fundraiser. We may not see her mountains, we may not see her plains, her land is a treasure beyond all earthly gains. Love is the perfect answer, each soul is embraced, the way is there through harmony, and innocence and grace. And in this other country, I dreamed of long ago, so dear to those who love her, so sweet to those who know. We may not see her riches, we may not see her queen, her temple a pure heart, where choirs sweetly sing. And soul by soul and silently, her shining bounds increase, her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - SKU: A0.939717 Composed by Richard St. Clair. 20th Century,Contemporary. Octavo. 23 pages. Richard St. Clair #3002339. Published by Richard St. Clair (A0.939717). This 9-minute motet in which the Buddha-to-be Dharmakara praises His master, Lokeshvaraja Buddha and vows to become the Savior of all Beings (namely, Amida Buddha). The music beings with an extended recitative/aria by solo soprano, and proceeds to the full choral ensemble to its conclusion. The MP3 Audio Clip is a computer-generated soundfile of the entire work. The music is completely tonal and traditional, suitable for good amateur choirs and professional choruses alike.Words from the Larger Sutra on Amida Buddha expounded by Shakyamuni Buddha some 2500 years ago in India.[Setting: Many ages ago, Dharmakara Bhikshu (in his stage before becoming Amida Buddha) declares to his Master, Buddha Lokeshvararaja, his intention to create a Pure Land wherein all suffering beings can be saved.]Text (slightly abridged):Then appeared a Buddha named Lokeshvararaja, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One, Possessed of Wisdom and Practice, Perfected One, Knower of the World, Unsurpassed One, Tamer of Men, Master of Gods and Men, Buddha and World-Honored One.At that time there was a king, who, having heard the Buddha's exposition of the Dharma, rejoiced in his heart and awakened aspiration for the highest, perfect Enlightenment. He renounced his kingdom and the throne, and became a monk named Dharmakara. Having superior intelligence, courage and wisdom, he distinguished himself in the world. He went to see the Tathagata Lokeshvararaja, knelt down at his feet, walked round him three times keeping him always on his right, prostrated himself on the ground, and putting his palms together in worship, praised the Buddha with these verses:The shining face of the Buddha is glorious;Boundless is his magnificence.Radiant splendor such as hisIs beyond all comparison. The sun, the moon and the mani-jewel,Though shining with dazzling brightness,Are completely dimmed and obscuredAs if they were a pile of ink-sticksThe countenance of the TathagataIs beyond compare in the whole world. The great voice of the Enlightened OneResounds throughout the ten regions. His morality, learning, endeavor,Absorption in meditation, wisdomAnd magnificent virtues have no equal; They are wonderful and unsurpassed.I resolve to become a Buddha,Equal in attainment to you, O holy king of the Dharma,To save living beings from birth-and-death,And to lead them all to emancipation.I vow that, when I have become a Buddha,I shall carry out this promise everywhere; And to all fear-ridden beingsShall I give great peace.Even though there are Buddhas,A thousand million kotis in number,And multiudes of great sagesCountless as the sands of the Ganges,I shall make offeringsTo all those Buddhas.I shall seek the supreme WayResolutely and tirelessly.Even though the Buddha-lands are as innumerableAs the sands of the Ganges,And other regions and worldsAre also without number,My light shall shine everywhere,Pervading all those lands.Such being the result of my efforts,My glorious power shall be immeasurable. When I have become a Buddha,My land shall be most exquisite,And its people wonderful and unexcelled; The seat of Enlightenment shall be supreme. My land, being like Nirvana itself,Shall be beyond comparison.I take pity on living beingsAnd resolve to save them all. Those who come from the ten quartersShall find joy and serenity of heart; When they reach my land,They shall dwell in peace and happiness.I beg you, the Buddha, to become my witnessAnd to vouch for the truth of my aspiration.Having now made my vows to you,I will strive to fulfilll them. The World-Honored Ones in the ten quartersHave unimpeded wisdom;I call upon those Honored OnesTo bear witness to my intention.Even though I mu.

Trumpet Solo - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1018953 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 1 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6078693. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018953). Programme Notes: This composition was written to be considered for pairing alongside Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony #3, the Eroica, but can stand on its own virtues as an intense and slow meditation on heroism. The music is like a boiling pot on the stove that’s just began to overflow its bubbles. The first part of the title, kommos, is a Classical Greek term from Attic dramaturgy, literally meaning striking but specifically referring to beating oneself up during lamentation--ripping at the hair, gouging out the eyes--like Oedipus--slapping the forehead, and other acts amid moments of extreme emotional turmoil. For example, from Aeschylus's play Agamemnon, a character bewails: Apollo, Apollo! God of the Ways, my destroyer! For you have destroyed me-and utterly [...]What is this fresh woe [...]what monstrous, monstrous horror, beyond love's enduring, beyond all remedy? And help stands far away! We can easily imagine physical accompaniment to the script; rather than bottling up the pain, the hero lets it all explosively come out.  The second part of the title, When the world moved on, is an epigraph taken from American author Stephen King’s The Dark Tower epic. The primary setting of the novel, a world similar in many ways to our own, is experiencing a dark age where the glorious past is all but a distant memory and all good things are referred to wistfully as occurring, When the world moved on. Yet, the main protagonist, Roland, the last gunslinger, emphasizes that it is not just a figure of speech, but the literal distances between destinations have increased, the positions of the stars have changed, as well as the occurrence of other unnatural phenomena. The world has become a gulf of isolation from all corners. Taken together, this piece is a lamentation for when the world moved on. Truly completed on Yom Kippur during the Covid-19 Pandemic, being unable to fast or go to synagogue, this is my atonement.About the Composer: Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. In 2019, he released his premiere album of original music, The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone & Strings, with support from the Ontario Arts Council. He is a member of SOCAN and the League of Canadian Composers.
